A unified Vision for Britain's Future Place in the World

We need a grand vision for Britain’s future place in the world. We’re moving into a multipolar world, the “liberal world order” is over, and we don’t want to be the EU’s or America’s bitch.

My view is that we can, with serious leadership, retain our place as a mid to top tier power if we play our cards right, becoming a powerful maritime trading nation and even more of a hub for global finance and commerce.

We need to not be on a “side” any more (for example our stupid games in Ukraine against Russia, overextending ourselves defending a Europe that will give us nothing in return except try to subjugate us again), but instead act as a balancing power, much as a country like Turkey does. We should not be engaged in self harm to aid these great powers (for example Lloyds has lost it position as a monopoly in global shipping insurance, because we tried to weaponize it against Russia over Ukraine, all in the service of US foreign policy)

We should be friendly but but not aligned with great powers like the EU, the US, Russia and China. We should NOT, be taking sides between them.

Who we should be aligned with is other mid-tier, strategically positioned maritime and trading powers like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapor etc. Allying with them doesn’t threaten the great powers, but makes these mid-tier powers stronger. (for example China would feel threatened if Singapore was allied with the US, but much less so if it was allied with an independent, non US aligned UK)

This foreign policy would act synergistically with our natural position geographically on the edge of Europe, across the Atlantic from America, and controlling trade into the med and Suez with Gibraltar and Cyprus.

On economic and insutrial policy, no more weak free market neoliberalism without a national strategic vision. As well as being pro free markets and business, we should also put massive state investment into partnerships with business over things like megaport construction, shipbuilding, reestablishing a very large merchant navy etc, steel production etc.

Defence spending should also be synergistic with foreign policy and the national industrial strategy, so the vast majority of funding should go to the Royal Navy, to protect British shipping and work with our allied maritime powers. We need only a very small standing army, as we had during the 19th century, since we’re an island that should have no intention of invading anybody.

Basically we need a joined up vision that combines foreign policy, economy, defence structure etc in a way that follow BRITISH national interest, not globalist moralizing or being a vassal of the US or EU. America has realized we’re moving into a hard power, multipolar world where they look out for number 1, so we can’t rely on just being their ally and doing whatever they say any more, which seems to be the reflexive posture of most people on the British right since Suez. We need to go “back to the future” and return to a 19th century style vision of a hard nosed independent maritime and global trading island nation, not involved in land wars in Europe, or global policing in the name of liberalism,
