Alternatives to Reform's 2 child benefit scrap

It seems like the Reform base is divided on their policy to remove the 2 child benefit cap. I broadly agree with people defending it because of low birthrates, but surely we should not be relying on people at the bottom of society to repopulate the country. The birthrates for British born parents is already below 2 so who really benefits from it?

I would propose an alternative of paying working married couples to have at least 2 children. It could help one parent to consider staying home to look after them. Even if both work, it would help with childcare costs. Perhaps making them exempt from income tax and NI payments until the youngest child reaches 18.

I know similar ideas have been floated on this forum, but Reform’s idea seems to be more about buying votes in the red wall. I’m not sure continuing to encourage repopulation of areas with bad economies is the way forward. It’s great for Nigel in his lifetime, but bad for the country in the long term.

All it shows is a lack of seriousness on Nigel’s behalf. Instead of encouraging people to be dependent on the state, we should be making it so that they learn to stand on their own two feet. Sometimes, cruelty is the biggest kindness.

Another mistake by nigel farage, we need less people and should not encourage more births. The Muslim communities have the greatest number of births and the most to gain
