Bring back WW2 era uniforms for the British Armed Forces & Police as standard issue

This one is purely cosmetic but I think it could help as one of the many small detail changes that are necessary to bring back a sense of patriotism and a link to our history and identity. This would naturally only apply to non-combat day to day and dress uniforms for the military, and only dress uniforms for police since obviously when they need to take care of business it’s no time for such things. But I think when circumstances permit, why not.

After playing many historical simulators, I would almost just say to bring it all back with no compromise, but I know we have our modern benefits and whatnot. One thing I would like to see in a rejuvenated Britain would be more of our Royal Guard walking around the entire of England, and for Scotland and Wales to have their respective guards walking around and interacting as well, but I am in need of learning about what Wales had in its past so forgive me there, Welsh people.

I always liked our uniforms from both World War years, sad to see that we had to be in the situation of course and lose many of our beloved dead. Lest We Forget.

The Police though, our old bobbies were better, had its own character in uniform, but we just need the mentality to be back with it too, none of this politically correct nonsense.

For police, I think that the answer is that, unfortunately, they probably need the stab vests now. I don’t think that police dress uniform is that different from WW2, though?

That’s why I said only dress uniforms for the police.

I think the better answer is some combination of modern functionality with a bit of the traditional styling.

I’d go back further than WW2, but for example the old 19th/early 20th century century tunic collars and design elements could be integrated with modern high quality stuff like Crye tactical vests, go back to all dark blue/black etc. Basically you could add a more traditional aesthetic in combination with modern materials and functionality. This would go well since the older tunic is actually more minimalist than the rather impractical 20th century style white shirt and collar, black tie, lapel coat look and would integrate better with modern style stuff.

Some combination of this:

and this:

Combine some smartness and formality with imposing modern functionality.

Better than the clownshow uniforms some forces come up with, which manage to be modern in style, cheap and low quality, and either look like gay stripper fancy dress or a parking attendant uniform.

Man, that 19thcentury/early 20th officer uniform there is ace. Meanwhile, we get bog standard Call of Duty men. It can’t be helped of course, we know what times we are in. A mix would be interesting, might be a little finicky to perhaps get AI to make the right kind of mix but it might be possible. I’d say that it would have to look British, rather than the standard global attire that we see in almost all Western countries.
I did have a gander at the French 19th century cops and they had their snazzy gear whilst we transitioned to the black coats which is fair, I still like our black coats.
