I would like to first very basically define Libertarianism. Sadly in recent years this political strategy for deciding the importance of policies has been labelled far right by mostly idiots who have never read a book on politics in their lives. Libertarian is like Buddhism is to religion. There is no God in Buddhism, it doesn’t say that no God exists it’s simple answer is “Don’t know” This is why you can find Atheist Buddhists and Jewish Buddhists, (Leonard Cohen for example)
Similarly Libertarianism isn’t left or right, it is the belief that government shouldn’t be able to over reach. It should only be given protective, not protectionist agency. That means that government should protect the nation, the person, the property. Anything outside of that is classed as over reach and rather than taking control of another part of peoples lives, people are given the free agency to take responsibility for themselves and for those around them.
The nation of te UK takes trillions of pounds in profit each year and somehow burns through so much money that we are delving ever more greedily into debt. This is a response to one rather stupid American President, who decided that we no longer needed an international Gold standard, mainly because they were defaulting on repayments causing a run on the Gold in Fort Knox from international countries and for a very hastey response forcing the world to adopt this debt based economic system where boom and bust, even stagnation are built into the system.
It is neccessary to maintain debt in order for the pound to have any form of value. That is madness.
Okay side salad as far as this policy goes, but a good alround explainer for why this policy is important. Boomers, and Wartime generations caused the problems, it’s time for Gen X and Millenials to step up and fix them. We need Doge.
I had a friend who was an officer in the RAF. He told me that he was really pissed off with the RAF one day for wasting money… It was budget time and one of our most prestigeous military organisations risked coming in under budget. This means that in next years budget there will be a budget cut and reduced spending for the organisation. The response was to build a brand new Hanger for a specific aircraft, but to build it 3 feet too short The result? The project was a total waste of money but the RAF came in just over budget thus saving the spending ability for next year.
Now apply the same logic to every town and county council across the country, every ministry, from the ministry of agriculture to the ministry of Education or the evil VOSA which shouldn’t even exist as an organisation. WE can strip the ministry’s down, condense what is left and reduce government spending by finding and removing waste. Not only will we be able to balance the books for once in a generation, we might actually make a profit.
Sorry, but your understanding of Buddhism is incorrect. There is a god realm in buddhism, one of the six realms about which the teachings talk.
I know a lady who worked for the council and they used to do some creative spending so they would not be penalised the following year by having their budget cut. Something needs to be done to reward underspending rather than enabling overspending.
Perhaps I wasn’t as clear as i should have been. Yes there is a God realm, but there is no God worship in Budhism. Budhism is concerned with the mind and the self rather than any all powerful deity. I’ve read many of the Buddhist Cannonical texts specifically refering to Theravada and used to follow the teaching of Thich naht hahn and his approach to the chan Tien school of the path.
While I nolonger practice Buddhism I am an admirer of the practice which I hesitate to call a faith as my point was to say that Buddhism doesn’t require faith, it’s why there can be atheist practitioners and indeed there are.
One thing with me, I do have adhd so when I finally focus on something long enough to become expressive, I ask that people don’t get too concerned on the minutia of what I’m saying at the expense of the main point.
Exactly! We have a governemnt system that is 180 degrees away from the right direction.
