giving the general public the right to defend themselves is the only way to guarantee a free society
There are many benefits to the right to bear arms.
- Localized self protection. Being able to defend ourselves against aggressive attackers would mean far less knife attack deaths and woundings and far more self defense cases. This is a net improvement.
- We become impossible to invade.
- Its just cool. It isn’t always about logic, but ther eis an element of what is good, fun and that sets us apart. Apreciation for weaponry and creating an environment in which we can use them safely is a big deal.
- Regulation: Rather than the badguys having free reign, it becomes easier to regulate weaponry in the UK.
Dont forget it limits the authoritarian urges of the political elite. And if not them then their enforcers.
I specifically like number 3 to begin with, yeah it is cool, but I am also an individual that believes we should have some really good system in place that further encourages an immense respect and responsibility for guns. A national militia like America is better to have I feel, plus it would deter invaders like mad, like you say.
I had an idea of how I would reintroduce guns to the people if we all weren’t allowed, but only some.
It starts off with each county councils and then down the branch once more, constituencies. So, for the sake of Patriotic fervor, and a feeling of belonging, I would make it so that there is a role that we can vote people into of which can bring honour and pride to the many families of the UK, a kind of Red Coats again, but it is different, no colonisation and whatnot .
We then get a team put together of the surrounding 3-5 constituencies that would then join up with each other and represent their area, but each constit will get 2 representatives, so this will tally between 6-10 to represent their area.
There will be flags, there will be a dress code, and there will be a cycle for one or two of them weilding a rifle of a specific kind, possibly a bolt action, whilst the others weild polearm weapons, and to make this a tad more sensible, the escorting of perhaps a police unit or a duo. This is to prevent any radical turn between one party or the other, but this endeavour is to make people say a similar thing to what they say when they see our Red Arrows fly across the UK.
Shrug my idea freely, but we need some things to feel excited about, to bring honour to the family, to be a part of a system in the community that helps liven up the day.
Im 50 / 50 on this. If it’s well regulated then yes, if it’s a free for all then no (obviously).
The main points would be;
- No seriously convictions (Assault / robbery)
- Over age 25.
- Serious stop and searches. Especially at entry points to areas of high volume pedestrians, schools, pubs etc.
- Most wont like this but we do need a ID that, for example, a security person could scan and get instant feedback to say if that person can or cannot carry arms.
- How to enforce stand your ground or if you feel threatened.
It’s complicated, I like the idea but it’s not as simple as some would like.
I recomend researching the American prohibition of Alcohol. It really helps put things into perspective that Legal is easier to regulate than Illegal.
A fun way to do this is the Oversimplified youtube video on it. Very funny.
I would agree on the basis there can’t be any loop holes to be exploited by a future corrupt government as we know they’re very good at exploiting that but with a referendum, regular examinations on individuals mental health and safety then I absolutely believe we should be allowed to bear arms, we’re defenceless currently and the globalist cult were praying on taking the guns away from the Americans this election which would make their plan to takeover much easier without the threat of people rising up against their ever growing tyranny and right now here in the uk we’re sitting ducks.
