I propose the immediate repeal of all assisted dying legislation and amendments to abortion laws that make lawful women killing viable children in utero.
This, and other “great repeal” legislation should be the first act of any sufficiently aligned government. Day one, hour one, minute one.
This would require an absolute parliamentary majority to enact unilaterally, restoring some sense of moral integrity to this beleaguered nation.

It should be noted that there is no mention of either assisted dying or changes to abortion laws featured in the 2024 Labour Party manifesto.
Therefore there is no electoral mandate for these large and impactful changes to UK law and the moral fabric of this nation.

I am still hopeful that the Lords will block it and that Starmer won’t use the Parliament Acts on a conscience vote… But given my policy on the matter, I obviously agree. I would go further on abortion and say that in all cases where the mother is not at risk, abortion is considered murder and punishable by hanging.

With regards to the change to abortion laws, I find it utterly astonishing that this legislation passed, without being in the 2024 Labour manifesto, having no electoral backing and little-to-no public debate.
Before the announcement of this bill, I had not once heard any complaint, protest or debate in relation to the state of abortion laws in the UK. It seems to me it was largely a settled issue. Now it has been thrust into the political fray and we find ourselves debating and considering it after the horse has bolted.
I cannot help but wonder if this as a deliberate effort to pass otherwise unpopular legislation, which makes one wonder if it was left out of the Labour Party manifesto with purpose, and was held in mind by the government, to cram through via private members bill, away from public scrutiny.
If so, this represents one of the greatest perversions of the electoral process in history, and a total abuse of parliamentary process.
