I would like to see polls on specific issues. For instance, there could be a website which allows the public to vote on certain decisions. That way we, the people, could feedback on every day issues. Then MPs could take account of this…or even better, be forced to follow it. MPs only ever make decisions based on their, or their party’s views, and lobbyists who tell them what to think.
This is something that could be easily created. It doesn’t need to be run by the government directly.
Yeah I agree that we should have a secure verification so then there is no voter fraud of course, but this would be such a key implementation.
I would say that there should be scheduled sessions for this during the week, or bi-weekly, where the people can sit down, be signed in and ready to vote, and there would be information based on the upcoming vote so that citizens know what to expect at each voting session, and we can knock out numerous bills in one bash, in out in out.
I would think slightly longer term than weekly. There is a risk of knee jerk reactions to high emotion events. There needs to be a time for debate so the full pros and cons can be explored.
The app would ne able to show the top rakned pro and con arguments on each issue, helping to avoid manipulation and gaming of the system.
Yeah, I was open to if it is more than just weekly, or set to be monthly or whatnot, but it should be a session to attend to, made available in as many ways possible to participate in. In regards to the high emotion voting too, it should be taught that people shouldn’t vote emotionally, because we’ve seen where that has gotten us.
Thanks for the comments. I agree being seperate from government would be best. Something like the “people’s parliament” - an online space to vote on polls. Apps are great and I agree with the secure verification points also, using banking apps would be good.
I think weekly would be good. It would keep things fresh. Polls could be more often if needed.
I have been really keen on trying to spread the message on whatever platform I am on at the time about waking up the sleeping voters and getting the reluctant voters also alert, because that is literally killing our rights at this point, but this was my weird way to circle over to the “…keep things fresh.” point.
Keeping things fresh, alive and awake for the beginning, and it should be widely engaged so that we can really utilise a swifter democratic model, but to have what this site also does which is to submit something to debate, like the Gov Petitions site, so then we can “inject” a new thing that gets added and then it garners attention by how the Gov Petitions site does, and then gets debated and written up. This is all to be put on this app idea with the secure verification of course.
Makes me think that if we get silly people submitting nonsense, then they would get a temporary suspension from suggesting more topics, but that’s talk for later.
