The NHS should be managed by medical staff but not primarily doctors. The best people are sisters and matron, people at the sharp end
No. The NHS is a centralised mess, too much power at the top, trying to oversee 6,000 GP surgeries, 1,000 hospitals, and 215 trusts. Trusts work effectively independently of each other too, and are loathed to share patients. According to some surgeon friends of mine, it is so bad that often, patients on a wait list who could be treated at a neighbouring hospital won’t get that referral because hospital bosses are more interested in getting the money coming in for doing procedures than for providing good healthcare.
The NHS would be better dissolved, with either a German-style system, or a a similar system that we use for dentists to take its place.
