Party Non-Aggression Pacts Must be Publicly Declared

Something stinks about the 2024 General Election, and we all know what it is … The Labour party didn’t campaign in 26 of the Lib Dems top 30 seats, and the Lib Dems only contested Labour in Sheffield Hallam.

This can, of course, be justified as diverting resources away from unwinnable marginals. But this justification is undermined my the fsct most of the affected seats were Conservative.

Thant’s a very wiffy set of coincidences.

The winner of the next election should immediately introduced a law forcing parties to publicly declare non-aggression pacts. They should simultaneously amend whistleblower legislation, if necessary, to protect people who expose such an agreement.

I guess the obvious question is “or what?”

I would feel somewhat uncomfortable overturning election results, and presumably, if they won they could just repeal the law and block any lawsuit via acts in Parliament. This feels like something to punish losers more but that won’t affect winners.
