Realist Foreign Policy

Another aspect of the Westminster uniparty is their adherence to a “liberal internationalist” foreign policy, wherein Western foriegn policy is (however cynically) focused around upholding “liberal” values around the world.

We should instead advocate the adoption of a “Realist” foreign policy, which is based on the reality of global power, and pursuing our national interests based on our own strengths and weaknesses, not abstract ideals.

In practice this means asking questions like “Why is Britain, an island nation, focusing our military spending around fighting Russia in Eastern Europe, instead of on protecting the global trade routes and vital strategic locations (Gibraltar, Cypris, the Chagos Islands) we control?”

Ironically, this can also be spun as a “forward looking” policy, where we can show ourselves as adaping to the new reality of a multipolar world, and them as delusional and stuck in the part of the “post war era” and latter “unipolar moment” where Europe and America ruled the world and expected everyone else to follow the rules we made. It would also be a way to mark a distinction from Tory neocons, and align ourselves more closely to populist leaders like Trump in the US and Viktor Orban in Hungary.
