The UK should retain sovereignty over the Chagos Archipeligo and allow some British Chagossians to return to work as wildlife rangers, in fisheries protection and tourism. We should aim for a self supporting population that wish to use their right to self determination to remain British and safeguard the base.

Hindsight is a wonderful tool to have, but now that the UN has shown their hand in meddling in such matters we will need to safeguard all of our overseas territories.
Maybe we could hold mini referendums across the territories to show support for the status quo.
