This would require good tax policy, but, alongside that. Investment for councils and whoever applicable to breath new life into towns and more specifically, common markets. Bury Market is a beautiful place to visit, and should be available in far more places in the country.
I also highly recomend their sausages. Nicest i’ve had.
Markets are, in my opinion, a significant part of British Culture. Markets themselves might not be, but we have our own style. The food that is sold there, the types of stalls. Its sad, to see the areas of these Markets fall into disrepair despite these good businesses doing well. They are not in control of the locations themselves.
Bury Market from what i discovered got significantly reduced in size due to disrepair, wiping out a large indoor section completely.
In other towns im sure similar continues to happen.
It is a sad sight to see. Disrepair is an entirely different issue too. Decent councils solve this though.
