Remove duty and vat on draught ales and ciders for sale in licensed premises and apply the shortfall to bottled and canned ales and ciders for retail sales. Similar for wines but NOT for spirits. (Use ABV%)
Remove business rate from on-licensed premises and apply shortfall to off-licensed retail operations with relief for small premises (under the England and Wales Sunday trading floor area limit would be a limit that could be applied nationwide. 280 sq m.)
Remove VAT from snacks in on-licensed premises. (Choose a price eg £5 and tie to CPI OR RPI etc. )
Revenue neutral but should bring growth in employment in hospitality sector. Reduction in antisocial drinking and home binge drinking.
For the youngsters or those not familiar with the terms - an āon licenceā is (or was) for consumption āon the premisesā eg. a public house, as opposed to an āoff-licenceā eg a shop selling cans of 8-Ace for consumption off the premises.
