British farming has always been the backbone of this Kingdom. The money we send to EU farmers should be used for our farmers. Money spent on importing food that we as a nation can produce, to a higher standard, should be used for british farms. Our farmers are the best in the world and there produce should be on UK shelves wherever possible.
We need to support and celebrate our farms by industry not destroying it
Subsidised to make up for the trauma they went through from labour for a duration, especially for the families where the fathers had sadly did a certain action that accelerated the process of handing the farm down to their family member.
What we should do in my view, is ^this^ and then to alleviate these confounded regulations and give the farmers a proper break, whilst also giving them a better deal for their crops and hard work. Some said about how they don’t know if they will be able to afford their children’s school uniform, so the people that feed us deserves a pretty penny extra to alleviate such.
We should also additionally encourage the rebirth of homesteading, I think I recall there being a regulation that demands people to report if they have chickens, which may be related to “monitoring” the potential behind bird flu, but I will let someone more knowledgeable to look into addressing that better. Homesteading will only enrich peoples lives with experience and the joy of that day where you finally grow your first fruit or veg or other, mushrooms too should be looked into, namely healthy food kinds, I won’t talk about psychedelics but some other ones have some insanely good health benefits (Lions Mane, Turkey tail, Reishi, some people process these for alternative methods of consumption).
Anyways, yes, raise up the farms, homesteading to be spread nation wide, learn, grow, enjoy!
I think a better approach would be subsidizing investment for British farmers. i.e. a farming investment bank that will fund purchase of the best possible equipment and training for farmers.
Subsidies are just paying them to stay inefficient, if we fund excellent equipment, buildings, training etc for farmers will make them more and more productive over time so that they can compete internationally.
