Tactical Voting, Vote splitting and Coalitions

This is what my neck of the woods looks like now.

Technically Reform won, but failed to get the majority needed to take over the council. This means they will have no choice, but to go into some kind of coalition with the Conservatives (ConForm).

Even if Farage was being genuine about a DOGE for every council, I doubt the Tories will be on board because most of the woke spending and other nonsense happened on their watch.

Is a policy movement forcing the center right candidates to sign a pledge on such things and going into coalitions before future elections happen possible? I get that it’s too late for these local election results.

I said in another post that coalitions should be for the benefit of the electorate and not the parties. I’m guessing any coalition that happens after an election will always serve the benefit of parties.

I also noticed a tactical voting app for lefties on X to keep reform out. An app like this would be great for the center right. For me to be on board, it would also have to include some kind of policy pledges.

It would have to be in this order:

  1. Keeping Labour and anti-British sectarian candidates out
  2. Keeping out candidates that haven’t signed up to certain policies
  3. Keeping other leftwing parties out, but I’ll take others over the above mentioned in 1.

Finally, could alternative parties on the center right use the threat of vote splitting as some kind of leverage to force ConForm hands on some issues or coalitions? Is there a way to get smaller parties on the right into some kind of coalition?
